Biscayne Axe were originally used by the French to trade with the indigenous peoples of North America. The tools combine the features of a tomahawk and a light axe. The Biscayne trade Axe has a simple design devoid of a typical hilt, so it will work best as a cutting and chopping tool. The axe head is made using the traditional hand-welded method, with a 51CrV4 spring steel core and S235 unalloyed steel body. The combination of these two steels makes the axe highly resistant to wear and dynamic loads, so when I buy a Biscayne Axe I am guaranteed that the tool will serve not only us, but also the next generation. Weld lines may be visible on the laminated head, which is, of course, a normal phenomenon accompanying the welding of steel. The material used for the handle is natural ash wood, famous for its high hardness, resistance to abrasion, cracking and decay.
