Walther GNK 3 - outdoor knife in D2 steel for demanding users
The blade is made of hard D2 tool steel hardened to 60 HRC. D2 is a partially stainless carbon steel, which is characterized by high abrasion resistance, strength and excellent cutting performance. When choosing a knife made of such steel, it is worth getting a diamond sharpener, as sharpening with a standard ceramic whetstone can be very labor-intensive and inefficient. The blade is finished with a stonewash technique, which does a great job of masking scratches and imperfections that occur during use of the knife.
Full-Tang construction head
The Walther GNK 3 has a full tang (aka full tang ) construction. This term is used to describe knives whose head and handle shank are made of a single piece of steel. Knives with such a construction are characterized by high strength and resistance to breakage, which is why they are mainly used by survivalists, bushcraft enthusiasts, and hunters who need to rely on sturdy tools in the field.
Drop point profile blade
The knife has a 4mm blade with a usable drop-point profile, with a derived flat grind and a distinctly rounded belly of the cutting edge. This combination guarantees smooth cutting, knife durability and functionality. A transverse milling is used on the back, which allows a stable finger rest when planing or fine trimming with the tip.
Micarta linings
The knife has linen micarta liners, which guarantee great grip even in harsh weather conditions. The handle has a contoured shape, with an enlarged finger cutout, which improves the knife's grip and comfort. The hole in the back can be used to weave in a decorative braid or safety line. To carry the knife, there is a lightweight kydex sheath with a universal belt attachment.
